Boil, Boil, Toil and Trouble

Made this batch of beer near Samhain to be ready for Yule. Hopefully that will work.

This is the second season of brewing with hops grown in The Mother's Hug.

This recipe went as follows:

1 gallon bag of Cascade Hops (in a sock)
6 lbs of LT Spray Malt
3 gallons of water (in the pot for boiling)
2 gallons of water (to add after boiling)

Boiled water, added 3 lbs of malt. Overboiled. Bailed two quart saucepans of water out of the boiler. Added 3 more lbs of malt. Overboiled. Bailed out another quart of water. Scraped off the bubbles to let out some of the heat in the water.

Tossed in the overstuffed sock of homegrown cascade hops into the boiler. Reduced heat and let boil for 45 minutes.

Put the boiler in the bathtub to cool. Poured in the two extra gallons along with the brew into the primary. Tossed in the yeast and gave it a stir. Asked for the blessings of the Alfar. Put on the lid and started the waiting process.
